Our Infant Program utilizes The Creative Curriculum for Infants, Toddlers and Twos©, a comprehensive curriculum that focuses on building relationships and providing responsive care. In this curriculum, each teaching team develops an age and developmentally appropriate series of programs that promote physical, intellectual, emotional and social development through engagement in teacher-directed activities, free play and self-directed activities.
At Building Blocks we are extremely fortunate to have separate spaces for our developing infants. We have separate spaces for younger, non-mobile infants, and another for babies who are beginning to roll and crawl. By separating the babies in this way, our staff is able to focus more on the developmental milestones that occur in these early months. There is also a safety benefit - we do not have older babies who are beginning to take those first unsteady steps falling on the non-mobile infants.
The health, safety and well being of each infant in our care are of utmost importance to Building Blocks. Each child is provided with his or her own crib that is never shared between children. Crib sheets are laundered daily or more often as necessary. All toys and equipment are sanitized and disinfected several times throughout each day. Ill children are removed from the group in order to minimize other children's exposure to illness. All staff members are certified in CPR and First Aid. Many staff are either degreed or pursuing their higher education on an ongoing basis. On-site classes and training related to the care of infants and children are provided continually throughout the year.
Our low staff-to-child ratios enable our staff to provide individualized attention to your baby while feeding, changing and engaging with them. Babies are held frequently and are moved often between several stimulating environments to encourage their development in many areas. Daily written reports are given to parents, so they are aware of what their child experiences each and every day.
Building Blocks prides itself on being a strong and loving partner in the care and education of your baby. Communication lines between families and our staff are always open and our open door policy encourages parents to call or visit anytime to have the wonderful opportunity to see their child in this environment while they are learning, growing, having fun and being loved.
