Philosophy

Building Blocks Child Care and Development Center provides a well-rounded program designed for full child care of infants, toddlers and preschoolers along with a school-age care program. Realizing that each child is unique, our programs provide a warm, accepting climate in which each child can learn to trust, feel comfortable, be secure and develop self-confidence. All our activity centers provide:

  • A bright, stimulating environment designed to accommodate a variety of activities
  • A wide range of interesting equipment, toys and materials selected for specific developmental stages of children
  • A well planned and implemented curriculum
  • An experienced, competent staff, continually renewing their skills in child development through training

Building Blocks provides a developmentally appropriate program where children are able to grow as individuals in a loving environment as they master the skills of youth. Building Blocks offers an enriched program meeting the highest standards of early childhood education. Our program is designed to work with parents through involvement in the program and an open door policy at all times.

Our curriculum consists of developmentally appropriate activities and practices.  The majority of activities are hands on learning experiences. It is our philosophy that children learn through doing, and not just by watching.  Overall classroom planning is created by the classroom teacher based on the developmental level of the group with which she is working.  Building Blocks has access to many early childhood education resources and consultants, and makes frequent use of them.  Our local college regularly places student interns at Building Blocks for training and enhancement of our program.
